James Fallows at The Atlantic has been doing a fantastic series on smaller cities and towns and the business and civic life that makes them successful. Success being, as he defines it: "More jobs, more opportunity, more satisfying life choices for more people". It is a great series, asking good questions and finding some answers, but often more questions.
